Health Fest – Diwali Dinner & Dance:
A Celebration of Culture and Community Wellbeing
Jain and Hindu Organ Donation (JHOD), Fighting Prostate Cancer, and South Asian Health Action (SAHA) are proud to come together to host a special Health Fest – Diwali Dinner and Dance on Saturday, 11 October 2025, at the Mother India Restaurant and Lounge, Leicester.
This unique evening will beautifully combine the joy of Diwali with a vital mission — raising awareness about health and wellbeing in the community. Guests can look forward to a vibrant celebration featuring live music from Music Melody, raffle prizes, free Mehndi, and a delicious Diwali-inspired dinner.
At its core, the event is about more than celebration. It reflects the shared commitment of the three organisations to improving health awareness, encouraging early detection of conditions, and promoting proactive health checks — particularly within South Asian communities, where health inequalities and late diagnoses remain a significant concern.
Tickets are just £20, and we warmly encourage all to support this vital community event.
Mother India in Leicester hosted a vibrant DiwaliFest that combined celebration with community health awareness. Around 140 guests filled the restaurant, creating a warm, festive atmosphere of lights, colour and conversation. Alongside delicious food and music, attendees enjoyed intricate henna artistry, which proved a popular draw across generations. A lively raffle with a wide range of prizes kept excitement high throughout the evening, encouraging generous participation and adding to the event’s community spirit.
At the heart of DiwaliFest was a strong health message. Engaging presentations highlighted the importance of early detection and awareness around prostate cancer, with clear guidance on risk factors, symptoms, and how to seek testing.
Speakers also broadened the discussion to include cancer more generally, addressing prevention, screening, and local support resources. A thoughtful session on organ donation helped demystify the process, emphasising how informed choices can save lives and support families in times of need.
The mix of culture, charity, and education reflected the values of Diwali—hope, knowledge, and renewal—while empowering guests to take action for their own health and that of loved ones. By uniting celebration with learning, the event left a lasting impact on all who attended.
